Glenbuchat is an exceptionally pretty glen that lies just inside the eastern boundary of the Cairngorm National Park in Upper Donside.

Glenbuchat is situated 40 miles west of Aberdeen, just inside the Cairngorm National Park. It is a Glen steeped in history with a Kirk dating back to 1473 and a castle, built by John Gordon and Helen Carnegie in 1590 which was also home to “The Great Gordon” – a fearsome highlander who took part in both the 1715 and ’45 rebellions. Glenbuchat then passed to Lord Fife until in 1901 it was bought by James W Barclay and the south side has remained in the family since then.

It is an ideal location for a holiday in the Highlands. For those who enjoy snow sports, the Lecht Ski Centre is only 14 miles away and Glenshee is an hour’s drive from Glenbuchat. There are wonderful hills to climb and cyclists will adore the stunning surroundings of the Highlands.

The Castle and Whisky trails are within easy reach and the unique Lonach Highland games, taking place on the 4th Saturday in August is not to be missed.

There are many quality golf courses local to Glenbuchat with 18 hole courses at Ballater, Aboyne, Banchory, Braemar and Alford and a 9 hole course at Tarland.

At Glenbuchat we can offer both self catering accommodation and from 2010, luxurious Bed & Breakfast in Castle Lodge as well as a wide variety of activities for the country sport enthusiast with fishing, shooting and stalking all available.
